Gordon Jacob's Horn Concerto is considered by some the best of the nineteen wind concertos of this prolific composer. Malcolm Arnold, one of Britain's most beloved composers, was a student of Jacob's, as was Ruth Gipps, both of whom are represented on this CD. York Bowen's Horn Concerto was premiered by the legendary hornist Dennis Brain in 1956.
